The Single Mothers' Alliance, within the BC CEDAW Group, along with a strong coalition of organizations in BC and across Canada, launched a provincial and national campaign called Step Up For Women's Equality after the release of the CEDAW recommendations for Canada since our last review. This campaign calls on both our federal and provincial governments to implement a National Gender Equality Plan and fulfill the Concluding Observations of the CEDAW Committee, issued in November 2016, regarding steps Canada and BC must take to fulfill women's full human rights.
A national organization called FAFIA, the Feminist Alliance for International Action, and West Coast LEAF are hosting the national and provincial campaign letters and materials on their websites.
To view the lobby letter and press release for the national campaign, please check it all out on the FAFIA website, here: http://fafia-afai.org/en/step-up/
To read the provincial letter and press release, check out the the campaign info on the West Coast LEAF website, click here: http://www.westcoastleaf.org/stepup/
Links to the Concluding Observations can be found on both sites. Don't forget to grab one of the shareables on the LEAF website to use as your social media profile, to help spread word about the campaign!
